Gayle oversees all of PENCIL’s programs, including affiliate programs. Gayle’s career in education began as a corps member with the Teach For America program in 1992. She continued teaching for six years in a variety of low-income communities including New Orleans, Compton, and South Central, Los Angeles. After relocating to New York City, Gayle joined the Public Affairs department at Vivendi Universal (formerly Joseph E. Seagram & Sons). As Manager of Public Affairs, she was responsible for grant-making in the areas of early childhood and pre-collegiate education; managing the company’s school partnerships in New York City and across the U.S.; and working with a variety of non-profits to identify community involvement opportunities for employees.
Gayle holds a BA from the University of Connecticut, and an MA in Education from California State University.
